To combat the many security challenges across the Northeast region and emerge victorious, the Nigeria Army has on Tuesday organised a seminar to enhance its personnel capacity towards maintaining a battle-winning mentality.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Army says it will continue to review its tactics, techniques and procedures to come up with kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to tackling security challenges.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja disclosed the Transformational Leadership Seminar on Enhancing Warrior Ethos In The Nigerian Army For Combat Efficiency held at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.
According to COAS who was represented by the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) Joint Task Force North East, Maj. Gen Wahidi Shaibu, the Army is not unaware of the security challenges hence the need to employ different strategies to tackle insecurity in different parts of the country.
“This Seminar is one of the many measures placed to raise necessary awareness in troops on the myriad of complex security challenges in Nigeria.
“This Seminar is therefore premised on the need to improve the capacity of Nigeria Army personnel towards the need to enhance Warrior Ethos and the Battle-Winning Mentality. It will also highlight the threats of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear terrorism in Nigeria,” COAS said.
In a paper delivered by the Director- General, of the Land Forces Simulation Center, Major General Usman Yusuf where he recalled the many victories of the Nigeria Army in various peacekeeping operations outside the country and charged the attendees to always maintain the battle-winning mentality
“The fighting spirit of the Nigerian Army is inherent in our history, antecedents and our core values. Over ninety per cent of Nigerias are behind us and praying for us to always win.
“The Nigeria Army was the first to do a successful assault landing from the sea without losing one person when we landed in Liberia. The Americans were watching the landing of Nigeria Army and they recorded it and that was what they used in Somalia, that is our Army that we’re proud of.
“Also, in Somalia, when the American Army got into trouble, it was the Nigerian Army that went to extricate them, so we’ve lots of things we can be proud of as warriors,” Maj. Gen. Yusuf said.
