Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved 13 road projects worth approximately N1.455 trillion, which were previously stepped down due to funding issues.

Gatekeepers News reports that the projects, spread across various states, aim to improve Nigeria’s road infrastructure.

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, stated, “The first one is the rehabilitation of Abeokuta-Iboro-Ilaro Road in Ogun state. It’s a contract sum of N57bn approved by FEC today for Strabic Construction.”

Other approved projects include:

– Mubi to Maiduguri Road section three (N89bn)
– Mubi to Maiduguri (Section Two) (N67bn)
– Benin-Akure-Ilesha Road (N525bn)
– Benin-Akure, by Ilesha (section 2) (N286bn)
– Angingali-Udobi-Udona-Umo-Uwana-Ubalaka road in Imo state (N26.46bn)

Umahi added, “We have another NNPC project, rehabilitation of Aba-Owerri Road, NNPC depot expressway in Abia State. The project has been reviewed in favour of Rudo Nigeria Limited in the sum of N21bn.”

The FEC also approved the purchase of 7,887 dialysis consumables to enhance healthcare access for Nigerians with kidney diseases.

Minister of Health, Ali Pate, explained, “In continuation of the President’s efforts… the council today approved the purchase of 7,887 sets of dialysis consumables… to address the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases.”

Pate emphasised the importance of prevention alongside treatment, revealing plans for public health screenings and lifestyle modifications to reduce future cases of kidney disease.
