Ghanaian Court Bars Economic Hardship Protest
Ghanaian high court has prohibited a series of protests planned for Accra from July 31 to August 6, citing concerns over public order.

Gatekeepers News reports that the marches, dubbed “The Gen-Z demo,” aimed to draw two million participants demanding action from President Nana Akufo-Addo on corruption, living conditions, and the delayed signing of an anti-LGBTQ bill.

The court’s decision comes as youth-led demonstrations gain momentum across Africa, with recent protests in Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria addressing various grievances.

The planned protests in Ghana coincide with ongoing election campaigns, and the police warned of potential disruptions to public order.
