President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dunoma Ahmed as the new Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ibrahim Lamuwa, who is facing allegations of s3xual harassment from female subordinates.

Gatekeepers News reports that the ministry announced the appointment in a statement on Thursday, stating that Ahmed assumed duty on July 23.

According to the statement, “Born on 15th October, 1968 in Maiduguri, Bornu State, Dr. Ahmed, who has had an impeccable education and meritorious career, has served in various capacities in public organisations as well as the federal civil service…”

The appointment comes after Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi, a married female aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, petitioned against Lamuwa, alleging inappropriate touching and invitations to his hotel room.

In a letter to President Tinubu, some ministry officers stated that the allegations against Lamuwa were not isolated, citing a “recurring feature” of s3xual harassment claims throughout his public service career.

They wrote, “The allegation against Lamuwa by Ajayi was not the first of its kind… s3xual harassment allegations against Lamuwa have become a recurring feature in his entire public service career.”

Minister Tuggar had requested the Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, to handle the matter appropriately.
