Nationwide Protest: Protesters Defy Curfew – Resume Protest In Jos

Protesting youths #EndBadGovernannce have stormed major streets of Jos North Local Government Area (LGA), waving Nigerian, Russian, and Palestinian flags, defying the curfew directive.

Gatekeepers News reports that this comes a few hours after Plateau state Governor, Caleb Mufwang imposed 24 24-hour curfew in Jos North with an extension to Bukuru metropolis, due to violent turnout of the protest.

Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, said his Command is poised to maintain peace, with reports of planned hijack of the protest to cause mayhem.

State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina in a statement released on Monday, said following actions of unscrupulous elements amidst peaceful protest in the state, the Command has robustly sent operatives to various areas within Jos metropolis and Bukuru to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

He said, “Intelligence report at our disposal suggests that hoodlums are planning to cause mayhem in the State and it is glaring that the miscreants are at the verge of hijacking the peaceful protest to massively loot shops within the commercial nerve of the State.”

“The Plateau State Police Communications command is poised to maintaining peace in the State and will not allow any person or group of individuals to plunge the State into unruly turmoil.”

Adesina maintained that the command, in discharging its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property and ensure public safety, is fully committed to ensuring that criminals do not execute their evil plans.

He added, “Therefore, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, warns Plateau residents to comply with the State Government curfew as anyone found violating the directive will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the extant laws of the land.”
