Nigerian naira has started the week on a positive note, appreciating by 0.6% against the US dollar in the official foreign exchange market.
Gatekeepers News reports that the naira closed at N1,607.15/$ on Monday, August 6, 2024, representing a N9.93 gain from Friday’s rate of N1,617.08/$, according to FMDQ Securities data.
However, the forex turnover for the day was $77.09 million, a significant decrease of 41.4% from the previous day’s $131.55 million.
While the naira gained against the US dollar, it declined against the Pound Sterling and euro, selling at N2,076.34/£1 and N1,764.15/€1, respectively.
In the parallel market, the naira remained unchanged against the US dollar, selling at N1,605/$1.
