Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, will kick off her Paris Olympics campaign on Wednesday, competing in the heats of her event at 9:15 am.
Gatekeepers News reports that Amusan, who narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the Tokyo Olympics, will aim for a strong start in her quest for the only major title that has eluded her.
Later in the day, the D’Tigress women’s basketball team will face off against the US in the quarter-final of their event at 8:30 pm. The team, led by Rena Wakama, made history by qualifying for Nigeria’s first-ever appearance in the Olympics basketball tournament’s last eight.
In other events, Samuel Ogazi will become the first Nigerian to compete in the men’s 400m final at the Olympics since 1988, while Christiana Ogunsanya will face Khulan Batkhuyag of Mongolia in the women’s freestyle 53kg round of 16 in wrestling.
