Nigerian sprinter Tobi Amusan has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100 meters hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing first in her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds.
Gatekeepers News reports that Amusan, the world record holder in the event, secured the second-fastest qualification time behind Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quin.
She will compete in her third consecutive Olympics semi-final on Friday.
Amusan, one of Team Nigeria’s top medal hopefuls, is seeking a podium finish after placing fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.
Her journey to the Olympics was marked by a suspension from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for allegedly missing three tests, but she was eventually cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
