Dangote Refinery has processed 50 million barrels of crude since commencing full operations, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited supplying 60% of its feedstock.

Gatekeepers News reports that Aliyu Suleiman, Group Chief Strategy Officer of Dangote Refinery, disclosed this while appearing before an ad hoc Senate committee probing alleged importation of substandard petroleum products.

Suleiman commended NNPC for its support, stating that the refinery is grateful for the supply. He also highlighted the benefits of the refinery, including foreign exchange generation, job creation, and psychological benefits for Nigerians and Africans.

However, Suleiman expressed concerns about international oil companies (IOCs) struggling to supply crude to the refinery, despite the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) provisions guiding willing buyer-willing seller transactions.

The management of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has insisted that IOCs are frustrating its requests to purchase crude feedstock.
