Kano State Government has filed fresh charges against former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, accusing him of diverting N57 billion meant for the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ganduje is charged alongside three others, including a former commissioner and two individuals, for allegedly converting the funds into dollars for personal use.
The state government alleges that the defendants acquired several properties, including apartments in Dubai and Abuja, filling stations, and a hotel, using the diverted funds. The charge sheet lists 143 witnesses to be called by the state.
This is the second set of charges filed against Ganduje in recent months.
In April, the state government filed a suit against him and six others, including his wife and son, for alleged fraud. No date has been fixed for the hearing of the new charges.
