Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has accepted the resignation of Secretary to the State Government Osarodion Ogie, who stepped down to pursue his political ambition as the running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the upcoming September 21 election.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ogie’s resignation, effective August 9, 2024, aligns with the electoral law requiring political appointees to resign 30 days before contesting elections.
In a statement, Special Adviser to Governor Crusoe Osagie said, “Governor Obaseki thanks Ogie for his commitment and loyalty to the vision of building a vibrant and prosperous State… and wishes him the best in his aspirations.”
The Governor has appointed Joseph Eboigbe, a former Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning and Commissioner for Finance, as the new Secretary to the State Government.
Eboigbe, a chartered accountant with a 15-year stint at Deloitte and an MSc in Leadership and Strategy from the London Business School, takes over to continue the Governor’s Finishing Strong agenda.
