Nigeria Immigration Service under the watch of Comptroller General of Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap has directed Commands and Formations of the service to step up border operations to contain infiltrations as a measure taken after an Assessment of Security Management of the protest.

Gatekeepers News reports that this was revealed through a statement released by Zonal Coordinator of Zone ‘C’ Headquarters, Bauchi, Sunday James on Wednesday.

Nigeria Immigration Service Zone C, Headquarters, Bauchi covering Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe, and Plateau States under Zonal Coordinator, ACG James Sunday, in line with directive has directed all State Command Comptrollers in the Six (6) states under the zone to commence a border operation code name “OPERATION BORDER SANITY”.

The operation aims to check excesses of Irregular Migrants(Non-Nigerians) from neighbouring countries who might want to take advantage of protests to enter the country.

According to the statement; the Zone is poised to maintain water-tight border patrol and surveillance and joint operations with other agencies at entry points to their state.

Operation Border Sanity will step up refusal of admission where necessary, apprehend, and ease out as the case may be of elements that are prohibited by Immigration Act 2015.

NIS noted that the Zone witnessed a very successful engagement all through and wants to keep pace, by disallowing Irregular Migrants and others within the category of Prohibited Immigrants from entering, while lawful Citizens and Regular Migrants are processed with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.

The statement added, “By this statement all the Comptroller’s in the Zone, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Plateau States are to enforce the directive in all Divisional Offices, Area Offices, Outposts and State Headquarters for effective coordination.”
