European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has issued a warning to EU member states, urging them to heighten their preparedness for a potential surge in Mpox cases.
Gatekeepers News reports that this comes after Sweden reported the first case of the deadly strain outside Africa.
In a statement, the ECDC emphasised the need for public health authorities to maintain high levels of preparedness, planning, and awareness-raising activities to facilitate rapid detection and response.
The agency noted that additional cases are “highly likely” and that swift action is crucial to contain the spread of the virus.
