Miss Universe Nigeria Diversifies – Includes Married And Divorced Women

Second edition of the Miss Universe Nigeria is diversified as it allows women of different relationship statuses to apply.

Gatekeepers News reports that National Director and President of Silverbird Group, Guy Murray-Bruce revealed this.

The Director noted that Silver Bird which has hosted ‘Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria’ pageant for more than three decades is honoured to present the second edition of Miss Universe Nigeria.

He said, “The girls will be in Camp at the Festival Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos where they will go through rigorous rehearsals, trainings. This is the second edition of Miss Universe Nigeria but it is the 38th edition of us hosting beauty pageant since1986.”

Murray-Bruce noted that second edition of Miss Universe Nigeria is now very diverse and inclusive.

He said, “We welcome married women, single women, divorced ladies. Our Miss Universe Nigeria winner last year is now married. She is Mrs Ugochi Ihezue Nwachukwu and we are so proud of her.”

“In the past, we used to accept only girls who are between the ages of 18 to 28 but now it’s open to ladies who are 18 and above. We are very diverse at Miss Universe Nigeria. We welcome all women, irrespective of height, weight. We are not going to discriminate.”

“The criteria is that you must look good for your age. We are proud to have the first married woman to be a beauty queen in the history of beauty pageant in Nigeria. She also happens to be the first Miss Universe Nigeria.”

Outgoing queen, Ugochi Ihezue Nwachukwu expressed her delight and readiness to crown the next Miss Universe Nigeria.

Ugochi announced an exciting partnership with Miss Universe Nigeria team, revealing her commitment to providing sponsorships for contestants who perform well in build-up to the event, further supporting their journey in the pageant.

Brand Manager of Silverbird Group, Mr. Arthur Ngwube, introduced the official theme for this year’s MissUniverse Nigeria, as “Digital Divas.”

The theme reflects increasing importance of digital presence and influence in today’s world, encouraging the delegates to embrace technology, social media, and digital platforms as they compete for the crown.

This year’s Miss Universe Nigeria has 25 delegates. The winner will receive ₦10 million in cash and other prizes.

Winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November, while runner-up will be opportune to participate in Miss Supranational pageant.
