National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized three petrol tankers transporting vegetable oil in Lagos State.
Gatekeepers News reports that NAFDAC announced this through a series of posts on X on Wednesday.
The agency revealed that the tankers were intercepted in Apapa area of the state.
A NAFDAC official in a video posted, explained that the seizure was carried out based on credible intelligence.
The official noted that the tankers were used for transporting both vegetable oil and petroleum products.
He said, “A credible source told us that the same tanker or truck that they used to load vegetable oil has been used or is being used for petroleum products.”
The official emphasised that this posed a significant risk to public health, calling for immediate intervention of the agency.
He noted that NAFDAC responded swiftly to the intelligence and the tankers were captured while they were being loaded.
The official added, “Investigation is ongoing, and a lot of people have told us that it is actually for Wharf 302 Products and Beverages.”
“You cannot have these two things in the same vehicle.”
