Onitsha Chapter of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) has mourned the death of their member, Kpajie Barr. Ernest ABK Offiah.
Gatekeepers News reports that the deceased, an aide to the Anambra State Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Aghamba, was killed by gunmen on his way to Abuja last Friday.
Offiah was travelling with the Commissioner when the attack occurred along the Edo-Kogi road. Commissioner Aghamba and his wife, who were kidnapped during the incident have since been released.
Kpajie Ernest ABK Offiah was a dedicated humanitarian and social advocate who embodied the Pyrates’ ideals.
The Pyrates Confraternity noted that the deceased’s commitment to making a positive impact on society was evident in every aspect of his life. The group noted that his death has left a void in the community, and a swift response from fellow members demonstrates the true spirit of the Pyratical brotherhood.
The Pyrates Confraternity is calling on the government to prioritise the security of citizens and take proactive steps to address the escalating incidents of kidnapping and murder.
They also urge citizens to take an active role in safeguarding their communities.
The group extends its deepest condolences to the family of the late Kpajie Ernest ABK Offiah and the entire Onitsha community.
“We are particularly grateful to our members from the Ubiaja Chapter, and Hon. Ugosinobichukwu Ikem Mazeli, who swiftly responded to the news and ensured that our late brother’s remains were brought back to Onitsha with dignity by providing logistics support to our members, led by Mr. Chima Egeonu, who went to Ubiaja for his remains.
“Their selfless efforts demonstrate the true spirit of the Pyratical brotherhood and our commitment to standing together in times of need.
We are also humbly and eternally grateful to HRM Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe – Obi of Onitsha for his fatherly role and support in ensuring that our member – Kpajie Ernest ABK Offiah was brought back to Onitsha with dignity,” the Pyrates Confraternity said in a statement signed by Benjamin Agbala ACIFC President, Onitsha Chapter.
A condolence register has been opened at their Anchor Point in Onitsha, and they pray for the peaceful repose of his noble soul.
