Allamin Foundation For Peace and Development on Tuesday organised a One-Day Workshop to train Borno State government officials on the proper application of Transitional  Justice in a state where the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency has lasted for more than 15 years.

Gatekeepers News reports that the training aims to provide clarity on the role expected of MDAs in promoting Traditional Justice in Borno State.

The Vice Chancellor of the Borno State University (BOSU) Prof. Haruna Dlakwa who is the  facilitator  of the Workshop held at Musa Usman State Secretariat said the training will also explore participants’ understanding of Traditional Justice and related concepts.

According to  Prof Dlakwa, the Workshop will “extract commitments by participants on how their respective MDAs would assist in pushing programmes on Transitional Justice and Reconciliation in Borno State.”

The Executive Director of Allamin Foundation Hajja Hamsatu Allamin urged participants to make good use of knowledge gained from the training as the state is still  battling with the consequence of the over a decade-long insurgency.

“I urge you to contribute your quarter to the discourse on why Borno needs Transitional Justice. Apart from the general community,  some people are more victims than the other.

“While working in your offices, think of these people who are more victims than others, include them, plan for them and execute for them,” Hajja Allamin said.
