Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria has emphasised the need for a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s approach to addressing economic and security challenges.
Gatekeepers News reports that the country’s current trajectory, according to the organisation, is unsustainable, and a fundamental change in mindset and approach is required to tackle the myriad of problems facing the nation.
This call was made at the 48th Annual National Ijtema’ah of the Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria, which held in Abuja from August 20-25, 2024.
This year’s convention was themed, “Making Living Worthwhile for All: Islamic Solutions to Economic and Security Challenges”.
The Majlis Ansarullah noted that Nigeria’s rich human and natural resources have been squandered due to ingratitude and disobedience to God’s directives, leading to a reversal of fortunes in the country.
The Islamic organisation lamented that the country’s leadership has failed to provide meaningful living for its citizens, resulting in hunger, fear, and abject poverty for the masses.
After extensive deliberations, the solutions proffered by the participants included embracing Islamic principles of justice, transparency, and accountability in governance.
They advocated for the prohibition of Riba (interest) in the economy and the adoption of profit/risk sharing as enshrined in Islamic banking and finance.
The participants called for a top-down attitudinal and orientational change to achieve a paradigm shift in the country.
The convention also featured free medical services, with 640 patients attended to, including eye screenings and laboratory tests. The Sadr (President) of the Majlis and his officers paid courtesy visits to notable dignitaries in Abuja and neighboring cities.
Notable dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and the Onah of Abaji, were represented at the convention.
