Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who plays for Napoli, has been named to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September.

Gatekeepers News reports that this marks Osimhen’s return to the team after missing the opening World Cup qualifying games due to injury.

Joining Osimhen in the squad are Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi and defender William Ekong, who recently transferred to Al-Kholood FC in Saudi Arabia. Awoniyi is making his comeback to the team after a six-month absence, having last played for the Eagles in November.

Ekong also returns after missing the opening World Cup qualifiers due to injury.

The two matches, scheduled for September 7 against Benin Republic and September 10 against Rwanda, will be the first games under newly appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia.
