Tinubu Signs Five MoUs At Meeting With Xi Jinping To Strengthen Cooperation
President Bola Tinubu has emphasised the need to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and China to advance trade and economic development.

Gatekeepers News reports that during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Tinubu highlighted the potential of Nigeria’s large and young population to drive economic growth.

“Nigeria holds great potential as the country with the largest population in Africa and is the biggest economy with a very young population that can drive economic growth and cross-sectoral programmes,” Tinubu said.

The president also emphasized his administration’s commitment to reforming the Nigerian economy, stating, “I am a reformer with verifiable antecedents. We have recognized the need to reform our economy, and we are doing so diligently across tax and tariff reviews to various other segments of our nation’s economy.”

Tinubu and Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The MoUs include a cooperation plan on the belt and road initiative, peaceful application of nuclear energy, human resource development, media exchange, and a MoU between China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

The Chinese president expressed his commitment to strengthening strategic coordination between China and Nigeria, stating, “China and Nigeria, as major developing countries, strengthening strategic coordination will inject fresh impetus to China-Africa relations in the new era and spearhead common progress among Global South countries.”
