Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 12 suspects for alleged oil bunkering, illegal mining, stealing, and vandalism in the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that State Commandant of the Corps, Oluyemi Ibiloye, paraded the suspects before reporters in Akure, stating that the arrests were made through a collaborative effort with the Nigeria Army.
“Exhibits recovered were about 1200 litres of illegally refined AGO and a Toyota Sienna car with registration number Ondo AKR 876 NP,” Ibiloye said, referring to the arrest of three suspects for illegal oil bunkering.
For illegal mining, Ibiloye said, “Kabiru Muazu, 27, Aminu Adamu, 30, Aminu Garuba, Buhari Lawal, 25 and Mustapha Auwal,18, were arrested at Ogunlepa mining site in Odigbo LGA on 3rd September, 2024 at about 1420hrs.”
Ibiloye also mentioned the arrest of other suspects for stealing, buying stolen goods, and vandalism.
He warned that the NSCDC would not allow the country’s national wealth to be plundered by selfish elements, calling on the public to provide timely and useful information to security agencies to rid the state of criminality.
“We will not allow our national wealth to be plundered by some selfish elements,” Ibiloye said.
“We call on the public to always give timely and useful information to security agencies to rid the state from criminality.”
