Police Minister’s Purse Stolen At Police Conference

United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Policing, Dame Diana Johnson’s purse was on Tuesday, stolen at a conference.

Gatekeepers News reports that the minister’s purse was stolen while she was giving a speech on the “epidemic of antisocial behaviour, theft and shoplifting,” at the annual Police Superintendents’ Association (PSA) conference at Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

A member of Home Office staff’s belongings were also stolen.

Warwickshire police revealed that a man aged 56 from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection to the incident. He was later released on bail.

Warwickshire Police spokesman said, “We’re investigating a report of the theft of a purse at a hotel on the B4115 in Kenilworth. The theft occurred some time between 11.00-13.15 on Tuesday.”

“Enquiries are ongoing. A 56-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.”

The Home Office stated that no security risks were recorded.
