Oluwakemi Pinheiro, newly appointed chairman of the governing council of Kaduna State Polytechnic, (KADPOLY) has announced plans to donate his lifetime salary to support indigent students at the institution.
Gatekeepers News reports that Pinheiro made the announcement in a letter dated September 9 and addressed to Suleiman Umar, rector of the polytechnic.
The chairman said his salary as council chairman will be used to assist indigent students at the polytechnic who need financial aid.
The prosecutor for Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) noted that he will not accept any sitting or other form of allowances during his tenure in the polytechnic’s governing council.
To ensure transparency, Pinheiro further requested that the institution provide evidence of the disbursement of the funds to his office.
He said, “Allowances for sitting due to me as a chairman of the 8th governing council during my tenure should be utilized for the payment of admission fees or support for the academic fee of any indigent students in my name.”
“Evidence of these payments forwarded to me for my records. For the records, I shall not personally collect sitting or allowances during my tenure.”
Suleiman Umar, rector of Kaduna State Polytechnic, commended Pinheiro for the cause.
He said the gesture will provide much-needed financial relief to many deserving students and contribute to their academic success.
