Nigerian Red Cross Society has swiftly deployed disaster response teams to provide critical support to communities devastated by recent floods in Maiduguri and surrounding areas.
Gatekeepers News reports that Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, appealed for urgent donations to support the organisation’s relief efforts, stating that at least $2.5 million is needed to restore stability to the lives of those affected.
The floods have left thousands without access to basic necessities like clean water, food, and shelter, prompting the Nigerian Red Cross to provide emergency relief, including food, water, first aid, and temporary shelter.
“The situation on the ground is critical, with many families struggling to survive,” Prince Adeaga said.
“We urgently need the support of individuals, organizations, and the international community to help us reach those in desperate need.”
The Nigerian Red Cross aims to target 4,500 households with essential items, including food and non-food supplies. Donations will support:
1. Immediate Relief: Food, clean water, hygiene kits, and medical assistance.
2. Shelter and Protection: Temporary housing and essential items like blankets and clothing.
3. Long-term Recovery: Rebuilding homes and restoring livelihoods.
To contribute to this critical cause, donations can be made through the Nigerian Red Cross Society’s official website website https://www.redcrossnigeria.org/maiduguri-flood-response or by contacting their fundraising team directly at info@redcrossnigeria.org
As Prince Adeaga emphasised, “Every donation counts in this moment of crisis. By coming together, we can provide the relief and hope that these communities desperately need.”
