Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has advised civil servants to elect a candidate with the required experience and ability to articulate their ideas for the state’s development.
Gatekeepers News reports that Obaseki made this plea during a meeting with civil servants in Benin City, emphasizing the importance of continuity in the state’s progress.
“I came to appreciate and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wouldn’t have achieved what we achieved without you,” Obaseki said, acknowledging the civil servants’ contributions to his administration’s success.
“The journey must not stop; it must continue. The engine of development must continue to run.”
Obaseki warned against electing uneducated candidates who lack experience, stating, “Those who want to take over power by all means are uneducated and have never worked in any better place. We can’t afford any mistakes come Saturday.”
Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, echoed Obaseki’s sentiments, praising his achievements and promising to continue his legacy.
“Edo state public and civil service is number one in Nigeria. Obaseki has done well, and I will continue from where Obaseki would stop.”
The Edo State governorship election is scheduled to take place on September 21.
