Osun Is Working On New Minimum Wage Implementation— Gov Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has said his administration had commenced work on the modalities for the implementation of new minimum wage for government workers in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor said this while speaking at the grand finale of the 14th convocation of Osun State University, held at the main campus of the institution in Osogbo on Saturday.

Adeleke noted that his administration had been supporting various initiatives that would enhance the growth of the institution.

The Governor noted that the removal of fuel subsidies had imposed challenges on workers and assured them that his administration would leave no stone unturned to lessen the impact on workers in government employment.

He added that in the last year, the state government had supported the university in completing an office complex at Isale-Osun campus to meet the university’s requirements for health-related programme accreditations.

Adeleke said, “We have also supported the university towards the construction of its ultra-modern Anatomy Complex which we commissioned earlier today. We have also prioritised the construction of roads leading to the student area at Sasha Market and other campuses of our University.”

“We paid a year’s arrears promptly to the staff members. We have also paid palliative allowances to all workers, and we are currently working on the modalities for the implementation of the newly approved minimum wage.”

The Governor urged staff and students of the university, to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and continue serving the country with dedication.

He said, “The progress of this citadel of learning can only be sustained through a peaceful and harmonious environment. Let us avoid unnecessary rancour and acrimony. Instead, focus on the common goal of advancing this great institution.”

“To the parents and guardians gathered here today, I urge you not to completely let go of your children as they step into the next phase of their lives.”

Earlier in his speech, the

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Clement Adebooye while giving his speech earlier, revealed the institution has been recording steady growth and commended all stakeholders for their commitment to the progress of the institution.

He congratulated the graduating students, adding that they have been prepared to serve the country and global economy as public servants, technocrats, and entrepreneurs.
