Idris Durkwa a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Borno state, on Wednesday, led other party stakeholders to commiserate with the Shehu of Borno, HRH Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi over recent devastating flooding that ravaged parts of the state, including the Shehu’s Palace.
Gatekeepers News report that Durkwa who was the Southern Borno PDP Senatorial Candidate also has the Member of the House of Representatives (Askira- Uba/Hawul) Federal Constituency, Dr. Hon. Midala Balami amongst stakeholders who visited the Shehu’s Palace.
Durkwa in his address to the Royal Father commiserated with Borno Emirate and the state’s people, particularly the flood victims.
He commended the Shehu of Borno for his resilience and proficiency in managing the impact of the flooding in the Palace.
“I am here with my entourage to sympathise with you and the good people of Borno state over the unfortunate incident.
“We pray that God have mercy on the souls of those who died as a result of the flood, and the injured ones quick recovery.
“We should all take what happened as an act of Almighty Allah (God), even as we pray that such calamity will never happen again anywhere”. Durkwa stated.
The Shehu of Borno, Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi appreciated Durkwa and members of his entourage for commiserating with him.
He explained that Borno had witnessed a similar incident in 1994, adding that the September 10th flood was devastating as it disrupted the people’s socio-economic activities, with hospitals, markets, schools, residential houses, bridges, roads and other critical infrastructures completely submerged and destroyed.
