Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented a certificate of return to the winner of Edo State Governorship election, Monday Okpebholo, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), and his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
Gatekeepers News reports that the certificates were issued to them by INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Edo State, Rhoda Gumus at INEC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
Okpebholo will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, who will leave Osadebe House on November 11 after completing two terms in office
Recall that INEC declared Okpebholo winner of the election held on Saturday, September 21 after polling 291,667 votes, beating his closest contender, Asue Ighodalo, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who polled 247,274 votes.
Okpebholo cleared over 10 of the 18 local government areas.
APC also gained control in two of the three battleground senatorial districts in the state.
