Federal government has suspended some senior officers of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) over allegations of bribery linked to the crossdresser turned transgender, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju aka Bobrisky.

Gatekeepers News reports that controversial self-acclaimed activist, Martins Vincent Otse aka VeryDarkMan on Tuesday, shared on his Instagram page a purported audio of Bobrisky narrating her ordeal during her six-month jail term.

In the leaked audio, Bobrisky alleged that EFCC collected N15 million from her to drop his money laundering charges.

The influencer added that she served her prison sentence in a private apartment after his godfather contacted the Comptroller General of Nigerian Correctional Service.

Bobrisky also alleged that she spoke with Falz in prison and the rapper and his dad tried to get her a presidential pardon in exchange for N10 million naira.

Responding to the widespread allegations, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, in a statement released by Ja’afaru Ahmed on Thursday, announced the suspension of the officers who were allegedly involved in the bribery.

The officers suspended include Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kirikiri, Lagos State, and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kiri, Lagos State.

The statement goes, “Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following Senior Officers of the Service:”

“Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State; and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.”

Also suspended was ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, an officer stationed at Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly escorting a convicted inmate outside the facility to an unauthorised location.

In addition, the board suspended Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, the officer in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kuje, Abuja, for allegedly accepting payments on behalf of an inmate.

According to the board; the suspensions were implemented to facilitate thorough investigations into the allegations against the officers.

It assured the public that the findings of the investigations would be disclosed upon conclusion.
