Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to administer the swearing-in of 87 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria at the main Courtroom of the Court on Monday as part of the programmes lined up to formally mark the 2024/2025 legal year of the Supreme Court.
Gatekeepers News reports that the CJN will also deliver a state-of-the Judiciary address to highlight the performance of the Supreme Court and the Nigerian Judiciary in the 2023/2024 legal year.
Other prominent figures in the Justice Sector, including the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), will also deliver speeches addressing the state of the justice sector in the country.
The Supreme Court’s annual vacation commenced on 22nd July, 2024, and the court began sitting on 23rd September, 2024. However, the formal ceremony to mark the commencement of the new legal year aligns with tradition and will take place in the main courtroom of the Supreme Court at 10:00 am.
