General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has apologised for his previous statement suggesting that Christians who don’t pay tithe might not make it to heaven.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a video circulating online, the cleric acknowledged his earlier claim as a “mistake” and clarified that the Bible does not support such a notion.
He emphasised that peaceful and holy living are the true prerequisites for entering heaven, according to the Bible.
“I apologize for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God’,” he said.
