Suspected hoodlums have set sections of Eleme and Ikwerre local government secretariats in Rivers state on fire.
Gatekeepers News reports that this comes hours after Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police (IGP) ordered immediate withdrawal of police officers from secretariats of the twenty-three (23) LGAs of the state.
Also, Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Bala Mustapha directed the immediate unsealing of the twenty- three (23) local government secretariats in the state.
According to reports; on getting to the secretariat, some newly elected chairpersons and councillors saw thick black smoke billowing from their new offices.
Widespread chaos also erupted in other LGA secretariats in Rivers, as the new council leaders took office.
