Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from removing Umar Damagum as Acting National Chairman of the party.
Gatekeepers News reports that the presiding judge, Justice Peter Lifu ordered that no one else should be recognised as PDP national chairman other than Damagum until the national convention of the party scheduled for December 2025 is held.
The judge issued the restraining order against PDP NEC, BoT, and others while delivering judgment in a suit instituted against them by Senator Umar El-Gash Maina.
Justice Lifu held that in line with Articles 42, 47, and 67 of PDP, national officers can only be elected at national convention of the party.
He said that PDP members are bound by constitution of the party, hence must always act in line with provisions and obedience to the party’s law.
