2024 Felabration Festival has begun today.
Gatekeepers News reports that the week-long annual music festival kicked off with a thought-provoking debate on climate change at NECA Hall in Ikeja, Lagos.
The festival is usually held to celebrate the life and legacy of late Afribeat legend, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti.
The theme for this year, ‘Look and Laugh’ was drawn from Kuti’s 1980 song, which states the need for critical discourse on pressing societal issues.
Fela Debates, featuring four renowned speakers: Adewale Tinubu, Dele Faseemo, Titilayo Oshodi, and Desmond Majekodunmi was held today.
The debate which had the topic, ‘The Geopolitics of Africa and Climate Change’ was moderated by Laila Johnson-Salami. It tackles promising intellectual fireworks and meaningful conversations.
Other activities to be held during the festival include concerts, workshops, and cultural displays. The events will be held at the New Africa Shrine, Freedom Park, and Bature Brewery.
Fela’s daughter, Yeni Kuti while speaking with Eyes of a Lagos Boy said, “We are proud to announce the opening of Felabration 2024. Music fans can be sure of maximum entertainment in the most natural atmosphere.”
