Federal Government of Nigeria is at the verge of establishing blood bank transfusion centres across the 36 states of the federation to ease hardship of patients’ access to blood in cases of emergency.
Gatekeepers News reports that Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate revealed this while speaking during an official flagging-off ceremony of Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (SEMSAS) on Tuesday in Bauchi.
According to the Minister; State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System is a state-level programme implementing unit of National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) which is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Health.
Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) has prioritised emergency medical services to progress towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (CHU) as prescribed by NHA will fund delivery of emergency medical services.
Pate said the emergency medical services and ambulance system will provide quality, prompt, efficient, effective, and accessible transport and treatment services at no cost at the point of care across the country.
