Controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has finally travelled outside the country following two prior unsuccessful attempts.
Gatekeepers News reports that last Thursday, Bobrisky was apprehended by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while trying to depart Nigeria. A video circulated on Instagram depicted airport officials removing him from the aircraft.
The EFCC subsequently confirmed his re-arrest the following day. According to Dele Oyewale, the agency’s spokesperson, Bobrisky was taken into custody to aid in an investigation concerning bribery allegations against the commission.
On Monday, he shared videos on his Instagram stories showcasing himself on a plane, although he did not specify his destination. Bobrisky claimed to have spent over N30 million on three first-class tickets.
“See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl,” she wrote.
His legal troubles intensified when activist VeryDarkMan released an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly confessed to paying N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky has refuted the authenticity of the recording and threatened legal action against VeryDarkMan.
Also, he was detained at the Seme border a few weeks prior while allegedly attempting to leave the country. Both Bobrisky and the EFCC, along with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), are currently under investigation by a committee from the House of Representatives regarding bribery claims.
