Victor Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over ten-man Tottenham in their Europa League group stage match held at PAMS Park in Istanbul.
Gatekeepers News reports that the 25-year-old forward scored two goals in a span of just eight minutes, helping Galatasaray maintain their unbeaten status in the Turkish Superlig and handing Tottenham their first defeat of the group phase.
Osimhen’s two goals brought his season tally to six in eight appearances for Galatasaray, along with four assists.
The match featured an exchange of goals, with Yunus Akgun opening the scoring for Galatasaray, only for Will Lankshear to equalize for Tottenham.
Osimhen then regained the lead for Galatasaray in the 31st minute with a toe-poked finish from a pass by Dries Mertens.
He scored again in the 39th minute, finishing a cross from Mertens with a first-time shot into the bottom corner.
This brace marks Osimhen’s second since signing on loan from Napoli, and he has contributed to the scoreline in all but one of his eight appearances for Galatasaray.
Despite a late goal from Dominic Solanke that reduced the deficit for Tottenham following Lankshear’s red card, Galatasaray managed to hold on for the win.
