The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) on Thursday arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital to commence the distribution of food and non-food items to 50,000 beneficiaries who were victims of the September Flood disaster that left some residents dead and properties destroyed.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Foundation, established by the leader of Chris Embassy Church, who is also the founder and President of LoveWorld Incorporated, Rev, Dr Chris Oyakhilome will also render psychosocial support to Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Shuwari area of the state capital.

This was disclosed when Pastor Joy Amenkhienan who is the leader of the COFI delegation paid a visit to the state deputy Governor, Usman Kadafur where she sympathise with the government and people of the state over the unfortunate incident.

Pastor Joy disclosed that she was sent to the state by Pastor Oyakhilome, who, according to her, is deeply concerned about the situation, hence the need to bring support to ease the plight of victims

“Pastor Chris is moved with compassion to assist the people of Borno who suffered from the unfortunate flood disaster.

“We’re going to give out food items, clothing as well as medical aides,” Pastor Joy said.

She added that the support for 50,000 beneficiaries is the first phase of the intervention by the foundation, noting that “it is a project, just like we did in Turkiye, we were there twice. This is just the first phase, and that’s why we’re here to see what’s on ground.”

Pastor Joy who is also the Director of Loveworld International Missions for South-East Asia and Northern Region 1, Nigeria, also commended the state government under the stewardship of Governor Babagana Zulum for his timely intervention in assisting the flood victims.

The Deputy Governor, Hon Usman Kadafur, who received the delegation, commended Kadafur Chris Oyakhilome for his show of love towards the people of Borno state.

According to Kadafur, ” the best amongst mankind are those who make it possible for others to benefit from their wealth.”

Kadafur later advised the delegation to channel their food and non-food items distribution to beneficiaries who are more in need.
