I Didn’t Organise National Prayer— Oluremi Tinubu

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has said she is not involved in organisation of national prayer.

Gatekeepers News reports that President Tinubu and National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu were reportedly billed to lead a seven-day national prayer over the challenges facing the country.

The event titled ‘Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs’, is said to be organised in conjunction with Christian and Muslim leaders.

Director-General of National Prayer Forum (NPF), Segun Afolorunikan who announced the initiative, said Christians would meet at National Ecumenical Centre for the intercession while Muslims would gather at National Mosque in Abuja.

The first lady however in a statement released by her Senior special assistant on media, Busola Kukoyi on Saturday, distanced herself from organisation of any prayers.

Remi said that though Tinubu is an advocate of prayer, she “believes that prayer is an act that must be done willingly, conscientiously and correctly.”

The statement reads, “She also believes that praying for Nigeria is the responsibility of every Nigerian, irrespective of religious belief, political affiliation, tribe or tongue.”

“This is to clarify and inform the general public that the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON is not organizing a National Prayer.”
