Director General of Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi had lifted the restriction on Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Gatekeepers News reports that Kanu’s legal team, led by lead counsel Aloy Ejimakor finally met with him at DSS facility in Abuja.
According to Ejimakor; the restriction was lifted after intervention of House of Representatives member from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South Federal constituency, Obi Aguocha.
Ejimakor in a post on X said, “Today, on the directives of the DG DSS, the #MnkLegalTeam conducted the first successful visitation with MAZI NNAMDI KANU since Sept. 27.”
“Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who came from the US was with us. Our ramrod legal forays & Hon Obi Aguocha’s intervention were crucial to this outcome.”
DSS restricted Kanu from having access to his legal team after he caused an uproar at Federal High Court in Abuja, by raising his voice, asking his legal counsel to sit, and demanding recusal of the presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako.
The court however had ordered DSS to lift the restriction while threatening to jail its Director General for refusal to adhere to its directive.
Amid the restriction, Aguocha physically met with Kanu on Thursday, 24th of October 2024, at DSS facility in Abuja.
After the meeting, the lawmaker said he had resolved the issue of restrictions placed on Kanu by DSS.
