Monday Okpebholo has officially been inaugurated as the Governor of Edo State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the ceremony took place on Tuesday at around 1 PM in Benin, the state capital, where Okpebholo took his oath of office alongside his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.
Okpebholo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious in the off-cycle governorship election held on September 21, securing 291,667 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 247,274 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) came in third with 22,763 votes.
The inauguration was attended by notable dignitaries, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the chair of the governors’ forum, and Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor of Edo, along with other governors from the APC.
