Davido, Nigerian singer, has ventured into the sports industry by launching his own football club.

Gatekeepers News reports that the announcement was made by Lagos Liga, a premier private football league in Nigeria, via their Instagram page on Wednesday, revealing the debut of 30BG Sports Club.

The club has officially registered to compete in the upcoming season alongside 15 other teams.

“With Davido bringing his energy into Lagos Liga 2024, we have great assurance that if opponents are not careful, there is a timeless promise they could fall because this competition just got risky,” the post reads.

Lagos Liga aims to provide exciting matches for both non-professional and veteran football players, with the competition set to kick off in December. A significant incentive for participants includes a prize of N50 million for the team that emerges victorious.

Davido joins several prominent figures from the Nigerian music scene in this league.

Notable names include Don Jazzy, who owns Supremos FC, and D’banj, the owner of Koko FC. Also, reality TV personality Tacha has her own team, Tacha FC, which will also participate in the league.

This development follows the recent launch of a football academy by Afrofusion artist Burna Boy, aimed at young boys aged 4 to 21.
