Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production Hits 1.8m bpd – NNPC

Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced that Nigeria’s oil production has reached 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd).

Gatekeepers News reports that this update was provided by Lawal Musa, the NNPC chief production war room officer, during a briefing on the company’s production metrics.

Musa, who also serves as a senior business advisor to Mele Kyari, the NNPC group chief executive officer (GCEO), attributed the increase in oil production to ongoing efforts to combat pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft.

He emphasised that this achievement stems from effective collaboration among the company’s leadership, stakeholders, and security agencies.

He noted the significant role of President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to enhance crude oil production in Nigeria.

On November 11, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported that the current production level, which includes both crude oil and condensates, has improved to 1.8 million bpd, up from 1.54 million bpd in September.

Enorense Amadasu, the executive commissioner of development and production at NUPRC, mentioned plans to further increase this figure to 2 million bpd by the end of the year.

Amadasu added that Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate output is anticipated to rise with the impending opening of bids for 31 onshore and offshore oil blocks. The following day, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) reported a slight increase in Nigeria’s average daily crude oil production, excluding condensates, to 1.33 million bpd in October.
