Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has said it would be carrying out a training exercise on Thursday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced this through a statement released.
Adejobi said the drill is to prepare operatives to respond appropriately to crises and urged FCT residents not to panic should they hear explosions during the simulation.
The statement goes, “In this regard, the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on THURSDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2024 FROM 9:00am to 2:00pm.”
“Members of the public are hereby enjoined not to panic as the exercise, which will come with heavy sounds of explosives, will be carried out in a controlled environment with no possible danger to residents as it is aimed at simulating response to emergency situations.
“Thanks for your understanding and support always.”
Meanwhile, Office of the national security adviser and the police sent messages to FCT residents regarding the exercise.
The message goes, “The Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force wish to notify residents of Abuja city and environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday 28th November 2024 from 9:00am to 2:00pm.”
“Members of the public are hereby enjoined not to panic as the exercise is aimed at practicing response to emergency situations.”
