Renowned American rapper and record producer, Marshall Bruce Mathers II popularly known as Eminem has lost his mother, Debbie Nelson.
Gatekeepers News reports that Eminem’s spokesperson confirmed the 69-year-old woman’s demise on Tuesday.
According to the rapper’s spokesperson, she died on Monday night in St. Joseph, Missouri after battling lung cancer for many years.
The rapper has however not publicly commented on his mother’s death.
Nelson gained widespread recognition through her son’s song lyrics, where he speaks of their relationship.
Eminem has often referenced his troubled childhood and his strained relationship with his mother in his music. He has accused her of abuse, neglect, and abandonment, which she has denied.
Nelson published a memoir titled, ‘My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem,’ in 2008 with the subtitle “Setting the record straight on my life as Eminem’s mother.”
She gave details about Eminem’s early life and the good times they had, adding that she knows he still loves her but is “just confused.”
