Users of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are reporting difficulties accessing them due to a mass global outage.
Gatekeepers News reports that Downdetector on Wednesday evening, shows big spikes for Instagram with 70,000 outage reports above average and Facebook, with over 100,000 outage reports.
Many users of the three social media platforms who have being unable to send messages or view latest posts have taken to X to express frustration with the situation.
Difficulty accessing the apps have been reported in the UK, parts of Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and the US.
Addressing its customers’ grievances in a post on X, Meta noted that it was aware of the outage and “is working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible”.
It wrote, “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”
WhatsApp also wrote, “We’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly.”
