Federal Government of Nigeria has declared December 25-26 and January 1, 2025, as public holidays.
Gatekeepers News reports that these holidays are designated to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, respectively.
The announcement was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, the permanent secretary of the ministry.
In his statement, the minister extended festive greetings to Nigerians and encouraged them to take this time to reflect on the important values of love, peace, and unity that the holiday season represents.
He emphasised that the yuletide period offers an opportunity to strengthen familial and community bonds and foster harmony among individuals.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” the statement reads.
The minister also implored Nigerians to remain committed to the peace, unity and progress of the nation.
He assured citizens of the federal government’s commitment to peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.
Tunji-Ojo added that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration will usher in a prosperous economy that will be the envy of the world.
