Kaduna Pilgrims Agency Begins Refund Of N61k To 2023 Hajj Pilgrims

Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has started paying the sum of N61,080 to each of the 6,239 pilgrims who performed Hajj through the state in 2023.

Gatekeepers News reports that the agency’s spokesman, Malam Yunusa Abdullahi announced this in a statement released on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Abdullahi noted that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) gave the agency the refunds.

He added, “NAHCON has specifically stated that the refunds are due to an interruption in the electricity supply during the pilgrims’ stay at Muna, which affected the cooling systems and consequently caused inconveniences to the pilgrims.”

The spokesman noted that the funds would be disbursed directly into accounts of the affected pilgrims.

He said, “We will do everything possible to ensure only the verified pilgrims with bank account details receive the refunds.”

Abdullahi further called on the affected pilgrims who had not submitted their details to approach their local government registration officers for documentation and verification.

He said, “The details required for verification include international passports and bank account details.”

“All payments will be transferred directly to the pilgrims’ bank accounts to eliminate any discrepancy.”

Abdullahi said that the Executive Chairman of the agency, Malam Salihu Abubakar, has asked registration officers to ensure strict compliance with the requirements for transparency and accountability.
