New Year: Police Arrest Imo Catholic Priest For Shooting Boy

Operatives of Imo State Police Command have arrested a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Joseph Enyinnaya for allegedly shooting a teenager.

Gatekeepers News reports that the cleric shot the boy because he threw a firecracker into St. Columbus Catholic Church, Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the State during New Year Mass held on January 1, 2025.

Spokesman for the command, Henry Okoye confirmed the arrest, noting that the body of the boy has also been recovered and deposited at Atta Ikeduru Mortuary.

Okoye said a detailed investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances leading to the tragic event.

He said, “The police investigation is expected to shed more light on the events leading up to the incident.”
