Liz Sanya, a British-Nigerian shoe designer, has made headlines with her recent attempt to set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the “largest sandal.”

Gatekeepers News reports that the giant pink clog measures an impressive 8.147 meters (26 feet 8.8 inches) in length and 3.156 meters (10 feet 4.2 inches) in width.

Sanya began the design process on January 2 and managed to complete the sandal within a remarkable 72-hour timeframe, wrapping up her work on January 4. The attempt took place at Pixel Park in Lekki, Lagos, and drew the attention of numerous celebrities, including Mayorkun, Pheelz, P.Prime, and Korty EO.

In her remarks about the achievement, Sanya shared her early passion for shoe design, stating that she started creating footwear at the age of 12 and began selling her designs at 14 to support her artistic pursuits.

She expressed her gratitude to her supporters and noted that her decision to pursue the record in Nigeria was influenced by her personal connection to the country.

“I’ll never be able to put into words what any of this means to me, I started designing shoes when I was 12 and by 14 I was selling them to fund a ‘habit’ I couldn’t afford,” she said.

“None of this has been possible without the support and compassion of the people who see me and believe in my vision.

“Ibadan… where I was born. Lagos where I was inspired. It was only right to come back home and prove it. 1 world record to beat, within 72hrs.”

Sanya’s record attempt is currently pending verification and confirmation from Guinness World Records.

The current title for the largest sandal is held by a group of artisans from Municipio De Sahauyo, whose sandal measures 7.45 meters (24 feet 5.31 inches) in length and 3.09 meters (10 feet 1.65 inches) in width.
